THE WEIGHT OF WATER

The Weight of Water explores the idea, both contested and evocative, that water retains memory. This concept, balancing between scientific inquiry and abstract interpretation, forms the foundation of the installation, created in collaboration with Diogo Nóbrega and Steinar Skalid.

A single droplet of water, a droplet of memory, falls onto the surface below, carrying both visual and sonic imprints. Its sound is captured by a hydrophone and sustained within an acoustic feedback loop, extending its presence beyond the instant of impact. At the same time, its visual memory emerges through ripples shaped by the lower frequencies of the feedback. In this interplay of sound and image, a fleeting moment expands, allowing the droplet to persist before inevitably fading back into memory.
